Good Design for You

So you need a website for your business. Okay, that's a start. Well you are at the right place to find a web designer here at the Web Design Lounge. Now the next question is, what do you want the website to do for your business? It's not as simple as just knowing you want the website to look good and professional. Your web designer usually needs to know the type of functionality you require in your website.

"Good design for you" means a website designed and programmed in such a way that it compliments your business and business goals online.

- Ease of use: For instance, if you sell books on your website (and there are 100's of books); you would want your site be easy for someone to navigate. This could be navigation in the form of pull down menus (like the top right of this page), navigation menus that give you more options when you place your mouse over a category. There are many other ways to take potentially unwieldly navigation and make it concise. Your web designer will be able to properly address this issue.

- Business specific: This is very important. If you have a website that sells car parts online, you want the site to do what car part websites do! That probably means the website having the ability to search a database of car parts. This also means that your visitor should be able to order and pay online for the car part. Always have your designer check out some of your competitors in your industry (big companies and small companies) to get a feel for what standard functionality websites in your industry has.

- Information design: Your website is a form of information. That may be information about products, services or general information about any subject. Your website information should be structured in such a way that makes your website easy to read and easy to understand. Information should be relevant to the particular page and/or category. Proper information design is usually taken for granted, but it is invaluable to having "Good Design for You" and your website.
